New Call
by Kelly on Feb.29, 2008, under Ham Radio
Well it’s official. On Feb. 26 the FCC granted me my Grandfathers old call. I am now W0UQJ. I’m still studying for my General upgrade. I plan on testing when the OARS group has their Hamfest in April.
I’m going to try my hand at building a 10 meter dipole this weekend. I would really like to try for some Dx QSO’s.

Repeaters
by Kelly on Feb.17, 2008, under Ham Radio
Well thanks to a few sites on the internet, I was able to compile a list of 2 meter repeaters in the area. I will add more content as I come across it. I’m working on a links page and soon will be putting that up.

Antenna
by Kelly on Feb.14, 2008, under Ham Radio
Well, I have built my first antenna. Really simple to do I just followed the instructions found here. I really got a feeling of accomplishment from it. It’s really cool to talk on a wire duct taped to the wall. I’m going to put it in pvc and place it outside on the roof soon but for know it seems to work fine.
I have to invest in a vhf/uhf swr meter before I build anything else for 2 meter. I do have a hf meter so my next project will be a antenna for my 10 meter rig.

Welcome
by Kelly on Feb.13, 2008, under Ham Radio
I’m a ham radio operator from Granby Missouri. I hold a tech class operators license and I’m currently studying for my General ticket. My current call sign is KD0CTG but I have applied with the fcc for a my late Grandfathers call WoUQJ. This is why W0UQJ.com is up and running. If they don’t grant my request I guess this blog will stand only as a tribute to him.
